Kith Meets Canada With Toronto Flagship Opening
A one-stop shop for sneakers and Sadelle’s.
Hordes of hypebeasts lined the block on Yorkville Avenue earlier this month, waiting to get a first look at the Kith boutique. The lifestyle brand turned retailer has opened its first Canadian flagship and 16th store worldwide. Kith founder, CEO, and creative director Ronnie Fieg designed the two-storey flagship using finishes such as venetian plaster, alba chiara, and Veria green marble to create a luxurious shopping environment for items from sweatsuits to watches.
Kith celebrated the store opening with a friends and family launch event. Guests included Fieg, Oliver El-Khatib, Bryan Espiritu, Joe La Puma, and OVO’s Majid Jordan performed to cap off the evening. Other attendees included athletes Nickeil Alexander-Walker and José Bautista, eTalk host Tyrone Edwards, and producer/songwriter Nineteen85.
The decor combines white, blue, and brown hues with pops of lush greenery, and changing rooms and elevators feature vegan leather wallpaper in a Kith Classic logo pattern. In the Kith Treats and Sadelle’s area, rosa aurora stone floors are complemented by wood, stone, and metal accents.
Fieg had 20 years of experience in the footwear industry before founding KITH in 2011, where he presciently mixed sneaker and streetwear brands like Nike and New Balance with luxury labels such as Margiela and The Attico. That fusion is reflected in all Kith locations, and Toronto is no exception. The first floor is dedicated to men’s and women’s premium apparel and accessories, while the second features footwear, an exclusive Kith Kids offering, and a food area with Canada’s first Kith Treats, a cereal soft-serve bar, and Sadelle’s, the upscale deli and bakery selling bagels, sliced-to-order salmon, chopped salads, and its signature french toast.
The retailer has collaborated with New Balance to reimagine the 1700 silhouette in two colourways inspired by Toronto—Marshmallow and Rococco Red—and released an apparel and accessories capsule.
