Open Position: Analytics Editor / Digital Content Strategist
We are seeking a dynamic audience engagement strategist to grow traffic and engage readers. You will be concerned with the entire content life cycle including analyzing, writing, editing, distributing, and monitoring content: web pages, multimedia, social media conversations, e-newsletters. You will consistently gather and monitor metrics to identify content quality, performance, accessibility compliance, make recommendations, and devise digital content enhancement strategies. You will be a critical member of the editorial team, leading efforts to make sure as many people as possible benefit from NUVO’s content. You will report directly to NUVO’s editor and be charged with creating and executing strategies to increase traffic and grow our base of fans.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Vancouver.
. Develop and execute strategy for increasing traffic and engaging readers both on and off our website
. Establish relative KPIs and metrics
. Analyze data and develop frameworks and processes to accelerate capabilities
. Interpret data and signals to know what stories are the right fit for what audiences
. Track success through engagement rates, growth statistics, reader responses, and other metrics
. Stay on top of digital marketing and social media trends (what is trending, as well as new platforms to explore) including multi-channel integration trends and best practices
. Oversee efforts in SEO to ensure best practices in tech and content creation in order to reach the largest possible audience
. Oversee social media to drive follower growth and engagement on key social platforms
. Develop and refine tools critical to audience engagement (user accounts, newsletter signups, etc.)
. Work with journalists on best social media practices, including framing pieces for specific audiences
. Become familiar with the vast NUVO archive to identify stories that continue to be relevant to re-highlight
. Work proactively with PR contacts to generate buzz for NUVO’s content, and to turn press moments into repeat visits
. Previous experience (2+ years) working in audience engagement, preferably at digital publications
. Deep understanding of audience analytics
. Solid editorial judgement and ethics
. Fluent on all social media and digital platforms
. Ability to tell stories in multimedia formats
. Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and in person
. Experience with key off-platform partners (Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
. Highly self-motivated with a passion to help grow a digital network
. Nimble and open to quick changes

Since its inception, NUVO has been committed to producing a high-quality magazine, in content and production. As an innovator in the magazine industry, environmental sustainability and active social participation are core values that NUVO upholds.
NUVO is committed to working with our printing partner, Colour Innovations, to remove virtually all aspects of environmental concern from the printing process and develop a system that is at the forefront of sustainable obligations. This includes:
- Producing NUVO through an Ecologo ECP-58-94 Terrachoice Certified Printer (federal government standard) that is also Rainforest SmartWood Chain-of-Custody certified.
- Printing NUVO with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper products.
- Reducing pre-press waste (film and attendant chemicals) by using our printer’s CTP (Computer To Plate) System.
- Utilizing alcohol-free presses with an environmentally friendly alcohol substitute and etch material.
- Recycling blanket wash fluid and re-using 75% of this liquid, with the remainder recycled commercially.
- Recycling NUVO’s waste ink, paper materials and printing plates.
NUVO consistently strives to improve and promote socially and environmentally responsible initiatives.
- Annually, our in-office recycle program diverts approximately 54 cubic yards of materials from a landfill back into usage—the equivalent of 19,000 litres of water, 46 trees, or 11,000 kilowatts of electricity.
- NUVO has incorporated Mohawk Options paper for use in the corporate office. Mohawk Options is 100% FSC-certified paper and manufactured with renewable, non-polluting, wind-generated electricity.
