Ocean Alexander’s Magnificent 28L

The stuff of legends.

The world of yachting has always ridden on a sea of superlatives, with terms like “class leading,” “definitive,” and “masterpiece” thrown around with ease. Yet from time to time we do see yachts that stand out and truly warrant such heady praise. One clear example is Ocean Alexander’s all-new 28L.

As the latest launch in the yacht builder’s Legend series, the 28L enters a world of great expectations. This 28-metre yacht, designed by the appropriately legendary Evan Marshall, masterfully combines an innovative design that delivers spacious comfort and luxurious finishes with a more accessible footprint able to more easily access those more intimate ports of call that the big boats can’t get into. Envisioned as a luxury yacht under 100 feet that doesn’t compromise on luxury or features, the 28L is built for families who appreciate the versatility of both casual and formal dining spaces, generous social areas, and the comfort of a meticulously crafted interior.

Drawing upon Ocean Alexander’s vast experience crafting some of the most beautiful and capable yachts at sea, the new 28L features a three-deck, four-stateroom design that makes the most of its abundant interior space.

Boarding at the stern via the expansive swim platform, a short series of steps on either side lead up and forward into the main deck cockpit and the vessel’s primary outdoor entertaining space. There, an enormous U-shaped settee surrounds a beautiful teak table on twin power pedestals to create a brilliant space for conversation, relaxing with a cold drink, or enjoying meals al fresco with panoramic views. An overhead hardtop provides protection from the midday sun or the occasional rain shower, allowing enjoyment of the outdoors in virtually any weather.

Leading forward from the cockpit, wide promenades invite carefree morning and evening strolls to enjoy the views and consider the day’s events. The ability to walk around without climbing any steps is a rare luxury in a yacht of this size, reflecting the builder’s considerable experience at sea and understanding of what customers most value.

Stepping indoors to the main deck salon, owners and guests alike enjoy a bright and spacious entertaining and lounging space highlighted by a plush L-shaped settee, a facing entertainment console, and forward, a delightful bar space. Subtly textured fabrics and light woods work with the oversized surrounding glazings to enliven the indoor space with loads of natural light while affording a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that at once feels like home.

Far forward on the main deck, a gently raised formal dining space seats eight with wraparound views, served by an efficiently designed galley to port. To starboard, a pair of staircases lead up to the bridge deck or below to the overnight accommodations.

The lower deck follows a time-honoured layout with a full-beam owner’s suite positioned amidships for optimal comfort. His and hers ensuite heads share a spacious common shower, while an enormous walk-in closet, an ensuite seating space for relaxing, and a generous desk area for attending to business as required provide all the comforts of home.

Forward, a bow VIP stateroom delivers an almost equally inviting sanctuary for the comfort of important guests. Between the two suite spaces, a pair of twin staterooms yield adaptable sleeping arrangements for four additional guests with full ensuite comforts.

Heading up to the bridge deck brings one to the 28L’s primary outdoor sunning space. An expansive sun deck with freestanding loungers, a lovely L-shaped settee, and a full wet bar with a barbecue encourage guests to enjoy the good life while soaking in the elevated, panoramic views.

Throughout, the 28L displays elegant style, refined taste, unequalled refinement, and meticulous attention to detail.

While it’s true that the yacht world tends to lean on superlatives, Ocean Alexander’s 28L really does live up to its legend moniker, proving that size and luxury need not be mutually exclusive.
