Meet Montreal’s Verre d’Onge Glassmaking

A refreshing take on playful minimalism.

Meet Montreal's Verre d'Onge Glassmaking

Simplicity is a defining characteristic of  Verre d’Onge, which crafts minimalist vessels in Montreal, but spontaneity is at its core. Eschewing symmetry, the maker embraces slight imperfections during the glassblowing process, letting the molten material settle in unexpected ways.

Verre d’Onge was founded by Flor Amélia Taillefer-Pérez and Jérémie St-Onge. When they met, St-Onge was working in the Quebec countryside at a glass studio fabricating lighting, while Taillefer-Pérez was in Paris assisting fashion designers with development and strategy. On a whim, they collaborated on a collection for the SOUK Montreal design fair in 2019, presenting more than 100 vases in frosted finishes. People “didn’t understand what we were showing, what material it was,” Taillefer-Pérez recalls.

St-Onge continued to experiment, developing signature shapes and forms. The distinctive aesthetic led to a partnership with Montreal’s Ssense, exposing Verre d’Onge to a global audience. By 2022, St-Onge dove full-time into his fledgling company.

Verre d’Onge showcases pieces in clusters. Whisper-light vessels in varying profiles, opacities, and colours speak to one another—an infinite collection that’s one of a kind.
