Margarita

As 2023 comes to close, ring in the new year with a wintery rendition of the classic margarita, a cocktail that will warm you up as the year draws down.

1 1⁄2 ounces Crystal Head Onyx

1⁄2 ounce mezcal

1 ounce fresh blood orange juice

To make the winter agave syrup:

Pour a cup of agave syrup into a pot.

Add 3-5 star anise pods, 2 cloves, and ½ tsp of allspice.

Grate nutmeg and cinnamon stick to your preference.

Bring to a boil, then let simmer for 10 minutes.

Let cool to room temperature, then double strain.

Store in the fridge for up to a month.

To make the margarita:

Add all ingredients to a cocktail mixer and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds over ice.

Strain into a rocks glass onto fresh ice.

Garnish with a blood orange wheel, anise star pod, and a salt stripe painted on the side of the glass.
