Multi-Story Dior Boutique Draws Awe from Torontonians
Better together.
It’s been a long wait, but Christian Dior’s new boutique— located within The Colonnade shopping centre—has finally arrived in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood. The most fashionable crowds were on hand on Sunday, Sept 9, to celebrate with cocktails and Champagne ahead of Dior’s highly anticipated opening. The new two-level luxurious store is located at 131 Bloor St W and as the DJ spun, invited guests explored both men’s and women’s wear—the first time in North America that both are presented under the same roof— accessories, shoes, and Dior’s lineup of decadent perfumes.
The contemporary and airy boutique features an open layout and clean aesthetic with glass cases showcasing handbags, accessories, and fragrances on the first floor. Upstairs, pops of colour from the ready-to-wear contemporary women’s and men’s collections artfully suspended from the ceiling contrast the boutique’s polished white space. You’d be forgiven for mistaking it for an art gallery.
Next to the wooden staircase that connects the two floors hangs a piece by renowned, Turner Prize-nominated English abstract painter Ian Davenport. His colourful work featuring cascading lines of poured paint extends onto the floor to create a puddle-like effect. Previously, he collaborated with Dior as one of the seven artists asked to re-envision the “Lady Dior” bag in their own unique way.
Explore the boutique a little further and you’ll discover an unexpected nook—an elegant lounge area with mirrors, coffee tables accessorized with hardcover Dior books, and comfortable sofas and lounge chairs in which to press pause and relax while shopping. The space is the epitome of Dior elegance and luxury.
