Lifehouse Tonics + Elixirs

Hailing from Toronto and Ottawa respectively, Lifehouse Tonics + Elixirs co-founders Jack Latner and Fraser Thompson moved west years ago to Hollywood, California, and in 2016 to opened their business: a minimalist health tonic shop with products designed to maximize the delivery of plant-based nutrients. At Lifehouse Tonics, adaptogenic superfoods like agarikon, blazei, chaga, and lion’s mane mushrooms, as well as ingredients like coconut oil, wheat grass, goji berry, and activated charcoal are blended into all-vegan tonics, steeped elixirs, and glorified milkshakes (made with nut milk, of course).

But it’s Lifehouse Tonics’ philosophy that sets them apart from rank-and-file health shops. They select ingredients not only for their independent benefits, but because of the ways their compounds interact with each other, working in tandem to produce what Latner and Thompson refer to as “special effects”. Supposedly, the Shroom Shake (which taste like mocha) helps you focus, while the Love Shack packs a beautifying hit of Bulgarian rose water. Other beverages are designed to energize, combat hangovers, balance blood sugar, and even boost libido. Consider it drinking with a purpose.
