Fettercairn Unveils Its 200th Anniversary Collection

As a part of this year’s BC Liquor Premium Spirit Release, the recently revived Fettercairn Highland Single Malt Distillery is releasing one of the 10 sets of its exclusive 200th Anniversary Collection for thirsty British Columbians. Housed in a custom Scottish-oak display cabinet, the whisky’s included in the six-bottle set range from three to 60 years old, with the full set’s combined age totalling 200 years. Among the age statements are numbers that pay homage to significant milestones in the distillery’s history, including the 49-year-old that marks the 1973 construction of Fettercairn’s last dunnage warehouse, the 35-year-old blended in honour of distillery manager Douglas Cooper’s 1988 retirement, and a 25-year-old pet project of master distiller Greg Glass inspired by current distillery manager Stewart Walker’s formative years at Fettercairn.

However, it is the oldest and youngest whiskies in the collection that most adequately capture Fettercairn’s remarkable history and promising future. “The Fettercairn 60-year-old is incredible, and a marker of the care that was taken here to nurture this whisky whilst it lay resting in our warehouse,” Glass says. “The Fettercairn 3-year-old—Scottish Oak—is marker not only of the cask but a reminder too of the type of whisky making we do here: hands-on as makers from acorn to cask to glass. This collection captures the spirit of all of us at Fettercairn—and that is why we are particularly proud of it.”

On November 7, BC Liquor is hosting an exclusive event to celebrate its unveiling at its 39th and Cambie location. The Fettercairn 200th Anniversary Collection will be available for purchase on November 16.
