Stepping Aboard the New Cruisers 57 Fly Yacht

Packing superyacht amenities into an approachable footprint, the 57 Fly from Cruisers Yachts delights in many ways.

It’s difficult to not have a soft spot for flybridge cruisers. Bringing superyacht amenities into a smaller and more easily handled package, these capable and luxurious vessels represent the core of the yacht market for very good reason. It’s all the fun and none of the fuss, and with much shorter build times so you can get out there and start enjoying yourself now, not years down the road when your superyacht is finally completed.

It’s even better when we’re aboard a flybridge from a builder with a legacy of crafting superlative vessels—such as Cruisers Yachts and its extraordinary new 57 Fly.

An elegant and appealing exterior combined with an Italian-inspired interior by De Basto Designs gives the 57 Fly a spacious, open-concept layout and a sense of grandeur and flow unusual in vessels of this size. The design incorporates large windows, enhanced ceiling height, and a light-filled atmosphere that feels luxuriously expansive.

Boarding at the stern via the yacht’s expansive hydraulic swim platform reveals a wonderful triple-wide sun chaise that deploys from the transom over the swim deck, creating a taste of superyacht beach club atmosphere. Then, four short steps up the starboard side of the platform lead aboard to the main deck cockpit where, under the protection of a fibreglass hardtop, a near full-beam forward-facing settee served by a twin pedestal table makes a great space for al fresco drinks, snacks, or breakfast with a view.

Twin promenades lead forward on either side of the yacht, inviting exploration of the bow with its matching forward-facing settee and expansive sunpad. A removable sun sail provides protection from the heat while encouraging the gentle cooling breeze to pass through.

The port-side promenade provides its own relaxation space in the form of a drop-down terrace that creates the 57 Fly’s veranda. A pair of upholstered bar stools here, facing a large opening galley window, create the ultimate outdoor pub.

Stepping indoors for a closer look at that galley, we find a large and well laid out L-shaped space with dual refrigerators, a freezer, a two-burner stove, a convection microwave, and space for an optional dishwasher.

From the cockpit, one can head up to the yacht’s magnificent flybridge deck, where a massive U-shaped settee and companion table create a dining space that’s fully protected by its own fibreglass hardtop. A second galley to port includes a fridge, with space for adding goodies like a barbecue grill, an ice maker, or a second fridge.

Forward of the galley is the flybridge salon, which neatly blends indoor and outdoor living with its expansive windows delivering full wraparound views. There’s even a 55-inch TV.

At the end of a long day, the 57 Fly affords further luxury in its comfortable and inviting belowdecks accommodations. The full beam owner’s suite welcomes with a queen bed and a cozy lounging space with settees and a table. Recessed lighting and climate controls create a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere, while the ensuite head includes a surprisingly large private shower. There’s even space for some add-ins, including a washer-dryer combo and a wine chiller.

Only slightly less luxurious is the forward VIP stateroom, with its queen bed, large skylights, and direct access to the day head. A third twin stateroom accommodates additional guests in comfort.

Powered by twin Volvo Penta D950 IPS diesels churning out a combined 1,450 horsepower, the 57 Fly is as playful as it is plush. The gutsy Volvos will spirit the 17.4-metre yacht along at speeds of over 30 knots (or more than 55 kilometres per hour)  when you need to get there in a hurry while sipping fuel at more pedestrian cruising speeds in the 15-knot (28 kilometres per hour) range. And with its generous 2,312-litre fuel tank, it will cruise along for a long, long time before wanting a pit stop.
