Petra Collins’ Debut Fashion Collection is Unapologetically Apologetic
I'm Sorry.
Toronto-born artist, photographer, and New-Wave feminism trailblazer Petra Collins recently unveiled her first fashion collection I’m Sorry produced in collaboration with SSENSE, with a second launch announced to later this year. Heavily influenced by her personal style and artistic vision, the line translates the dreamy nostalgia of female adolescence into wearable pieces. I’m Sorry, named as a tribute to Collins’ Canadian roots, is made up of 12-pieces of matching lingerie and pyjama sets, bodysuits, oversized hoodies, and mini halter dresses.
Recalling mid-2000s Myspace aesthetics, the line features recurring graphics of a custom anime character created by artist Miigo, who Collins discovered through Instagram. Collins herself shot the lines campaign photography, which features herself and friends in a pink-hued bedroom—a nod to Collins’ artistic interpretation of the female gaze, vulnerability, and sexuality.
