Vampiro
A recipe from mixologist Tony Conigliaro.
A cousin of the world famous Bloody Mary, the Vampiro was created in the 1920’s by Fernand Pete Petiot in Paris and is a classic in its own right. Add a little Mezcal to make a slightly smoky version of this drink; adding shallot juice also highlights the savoury notes, resulting in an adventurous drink for the Bloody Mary connoisseur.
Ingredients
40 ml Calle 23 Blanco tequila
20 ml Tomato Passata
10 ml Del Maguey Vida mezcal
10 ml lime juice
5 ml lemon juice
10 ml worcestershire sauce
10 ml grenadine
3 dashes homemade pepper sauce
5 drops shallot juice
Method
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail tin over ice.
- Stir and single strain into a large coupette glass with a smoked salt rim.
