The Canadian Brand Making Handsome Swimwear for Men

For the beach.

Bather, the Canadian brand that’s made its mark crafting handsome swimwear for men, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Since launching, it has expanded its product line to include sweatpants and hoodies, toques, tote bags, and camp shirts, among other items, and opened a flagship boutique on Toronto’s Dufferin Street. Bather has also recently reaffirmed its commitment to exploring 100 per cent recycled fabrics. Having found a mill that’s able to reverse engineer its fabrics using a combination of one made from postconsumer PET bottles and a proprietary recycled nylon, all its swim trunks are now made from recycled materials.

For spring/summer 2023, Bather found inspiration in nature, specifically traditional Japanese design techniques, and the digital world. The result is a collection of summery staples in mood-lifting prints that will easily transition from the beach to the bar. Standouts include the navy trunks overlaid with an all-over radial flower print, a white camp shirt with vibrant blue and red pinstripes, and the simple six-panel ball cap in a washed-out periwinkle. It’s clear Bather wants to bring some sunshine to the frigid north to celebrate its anniversary, and whether you opt for playful trunks or an understated camp shirt, you’ll be supporting a Canadian brand that’s doing good by helping you look good.
