Sustainable Homeware Marketplace Goodee Opens First Store in Montreal

Mindful living.

For founders Byron and Dexter Peart, Goodee’s newly opened flagship in Montreal’s Westmount isn’t just a retail expansion—it’s a return to familiar ground. Though the twin brothers have always called Montreal home, it’s been years since they had a physical presence in this part of the city. Their first venture, Want Les Essentiels, opened in 2007 and quickly became a cult destination thanks to its understated take on luxury and its in-house line of meticulously crafted bags and accessories. It wasn’t just a shop; it was a place where design-minded shoppers came to discover something elegant and a little unexpected.

Since then, the Pearts have taken that philosophy and shifted focus from fashion to homeware. They launched Goodee in 2019 as a digital-first platform with a mission to champion sustainability, thoughtful design, and social impact. The B Corp-certified marketplace has grown into a global destination for timeless goods that not only look good but also do good—supporting everything from gender equity to circular production models and nature conservation, partnering with notable institutions such as the United Nations’ Ethical Fashion Initiative, and being named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2021.

Goodee isn’t about trend-chasing—it’s about permanence, values, and the quiet satisfaction of a well-made object.

“Our new Westmount store represents a pivotal moment for Goodee,” the brothers say. “We are excited to bring our customers an elevated shopping experience that combines our signature curation of sustainable goods with in-person touchpoints that highlight our values of craftsmanship, design, and social impact.”

The 1,000-square-foot space offers a tactile extension of Goodee’s online world, giving visitors the chance to discover brands such as Niwaki, Tensira, ecoBirdy, and Iris Hantverk in person. Everything on the shelf is chosen for more than aesthetics. Take Ferm Living, whose home goods are created in close collaboration with artisans around the world and with a strong emphasis on ethical production. Or Haws, the British gardening brand known for its handcrafted watering cans and its support for women-led reforestation projects.

Designed to feel like a real home, the store features warm tones, natural materials, and richly textured surfaces. With vibrant merchandising and over 30 countries represented across its assortment—ranging from home decor and tableware to children’s furniture—it’s a place where every object tells a story.

After well-received pop-ups at the PHI Centre in Montreal, the Whitney Museum in New York, and Platform in LA, the new store marks the beginning of a more permanent phase. Goodee’s Westmount location will host exclusive product drops and a calendar of community events—all with the same sharp eye and values-driven approach that have defined the Pearts’ work from the start.
