A Margarita Twist Made for Summer

In many ways, margaritas are the perfect summer cocktail. A little bit sweet, a little bit sour, and always ice cold, the refreshing cocktail is just made for high heat. This also means that sometimes things need to be mixed up a little bit. This recipe for a Coconut Plata Margarita from Gotham Steakhouse & Bar is here to help. With its added grapefruit and coconut flavours, and the glass’s fun Tajin-spiced rim, there’s no mistaking this drink for a standard margarita.

Ingredients

2 ounces Hornitos Plata tequila

.25 ounce grapefruit bitters

1 ounce lime juice

1 ounce Giffard coconut syrup

Tajin for rim of glass

Dehydrated lime wheel for garnish

Method

Coat the rim of a large rocks glass with Tajin.

Pour liquid ingredients over a small amount of ice in a cocktails shaker and shake for 10 seconds.

Pour into Tajin-rimmed rocks glass with a small amount of ice.

Finish with more fresh ice.

Garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel.
