Return of the Rose

6 rose-scented products to indulge your inner flower child.

Daily Edit: Return of the Rose

Rose is a polarizing scent; some love its delicacy, others consider it overwhelmingly old-fashioned. I belonged to the latter camp—that is, until one hot day in Marrakech, when a beautician in an apothecary I visited on the second floor of an old, atmospheric townhouse beckoned me forth to sniff the contents of a pink, plastic bottle she had whisked off a shelf behind her. Rosewater. Pure and bright, it was nothing like the soapy rose I thought I knew. I bought bottles of it. Now, rose connotes freshness to me—a clean, feminine fragrance I’ve endeavoured to work into my beauty routine in all forms. Luckily, the cosmetic industry seems to have drunk the rose Kool-Aid along with me, and there are plenty of rose-infused products on the market. Here, an edit of the best.

Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile Velvety Bath Gel
Pleasant and delicate, the Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile Velvety Bath Gel has silky, luxurious texture, and calls to be spilled lovingly into a hot bath. The formula is enriched with Vitamin B5 and rose wax, leaving the skin soft and petal-scented.

OSKIA Rose de Mai Candle
OSKIA’s Rose de Mai Skin Smoothing Massage Candle is pure indulgence and perfect for an at-home spa experience. Coconut oil and beeswax are fragranced with Rose de Mai (a type of cabbage rose) and melt into massage oil packed full of skin-smoothing omegas. Bliss.

Jurlique Rose Hand Cream
Jurlique’s Rose Hand Cream featuring the brand’s Rosa Gallica Flower Extract, a precious ingredient drawn exclusively from this year’s vintage of the pure and potent roses grown at Jurlique’s farm in Adelaide Hills, Australia. The cream is potently fragrant, rich in texture, and nourishes even the driest of hands.

INIKA Certified Organic Pure Rosehip Oil
INIKA is quickly making waves in the beauty industry with its award-winning, organic products. High in essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants, and beta-carotene, their vegan, 100 per cent Pure Rosehip Oil brightens and hydrates (rosehip is widely known for its repairing powers—scars, redness, and flaky skin are all calmed, with acne prevented altogether).

By Terry Cellularose Micellar Water
By Terry’s Cellularose Micellar Water serves as a gentle yet effective cleanser and makeup remover, deeply purifying the skin. It should not be confused with a toner, cleansing milk, or face wash, however—this is water enriched with radiance-activating white rose native cells and antioxidant black rose extract that removes dirt without the need for rinsing.

Diptyque Eau Rose
A classic. Delicate and anything but over-powering, Eau Rose celebrates the “queen of flowers”, and was inspired by a legend that tells of an angel who once visited a queen of Central Europe and gave her the formula of scented water (eau), beneficial to wellbeing. Today, Diptyque has reinterpreted these eaux de toilettes and created a romantic and feminine scent in Eau Rose; with its bergamot, lychee, and cedar notes, is perfect for everyday wear.
