Goodge Place

London eye.

NUVO Magazine Spring 2015: Of Note

Steeped in British style as a result of 13 years spent living across the pond, Goodge Place co-owner Emily McLean honed her London-influenced design eye to open up a concept shop off South Granville in Vancouver last winter. Co-owned by Emily’s mother, Patricia, the artistic haven is a blending of the duo’s aesthetics. A coffee bar upon entrance gets the creative juices flowing while an upstairs gallery displays speciality lines from World Mosaic tiles (also owned by Patricia); there’s a “design lab” meeting room for creative tête-à-têtes, and even a florist. And then there are the luxe goods filling the emporium’s shelves, including geometric soaps and hand-poured candles by Brooklyn-based Pelle; fine bone china emblazoned with animal drawings by British artist Rory Dobner; cult favourite Dr. Vranjes room fragrances from Florence; and patterned oven mitts and aprons from the House of Hackney.
