Louis Vuitton Unveils Crafting Dreams Exhibition in Bel Air
An exclusive savoir-faire experience.
Louis Vuitton’s latest foray into the gallery realm has landed in Los Angeles. The French luxury house has debuted the exquisite Crafting Dreams exhibition at an opulent private residence in the city’s historic Bel Air neighbourhood. The “exclusive savoir-faire experience” by private appointment only (call your client adviser) features some of Louis Vuitton’s finest offerings, including one-of-a-kind exotic leather goods, classic LV trunks, and red carpet gowns.
Pieces from the brand’s Objets Nomades collection of travel-inspired furniture and items are placed throughout the modern, swanky residence that overlooks a private golf course and, reportedly, several celebrity homes. The exhibition brings Louis Vuitton’s universe and history, which dates back to 1854 in Paris, to life through a celebration of its craftsmanship and modern releases, such as the new classic Capucines handbag collection.
For the fashion enthusiast, the Red Carpet Room upstairs is the definition of aspirational fantasy. Here, the brand acknowledges its long-standing celebrity relationships with a nod to Hollywood with some of the most spectacular gowns worn by the likes of actresses Gemma Chan, Jennifer Connelly, and Sophie Turner.
Cabinet of Curiosities by industrial designer Marc Newson is a sleek and modern play on a classic travel trunk. Newson’s version has 19 removable, modular cubes meant to store items from books to clothes and more but is most likely to be used as a home decor piece. The cabinet trunk includes options for a yellow, multicoloured, or neutral interior for those looking to bring the spirit of travel into their homes.
After a leisurely stroll through the property, guests can unwind on the sprawling deck with a second glass of champagne while soaking up the marvelous views of the Bel Air hills. The sparkling beverage is a theme throughout Crafting Dreams, particularly with the Infinity Party Trunk that also has full champagne service. Loyal Louis Vuitton fans and pop culture enthusiasts will recognize Yayoi Kusama’s signature multicoloured dots on the eye-catching piece, which comes with a soirée-ready disco ball. A wine cellar filled with LVMH-owned Krug can be spotted throughout the tour.
The brand is also using the exhibition to showcase its debut Louis Vuitton Baby line, released in April for infants up to 12 months old. Other highlights include a nod to the brand’s ever-popular sneakers with the LV Trainer in Residence exhibition that includes three limited edition trainers designed in collaboration with artists Lady Pink and Lee Quiñones and the estate of the late Rammellzee, as well as a room dedicated to the glitziest LV fine jewellery and watches.
The exhibition is open now until early May 3.
