If there’s a stalwart interior design firm in Western Canada, it is surely Vancouver’s Falken Reynolds. Since its opening ten years ago, the firm, led by principals Kelly Reynolds and Chad Falkenberg, has made a name for itself by designing interiors that ooze West Coast charm.
Designed by Omar Gandhi Architect, which has offices in Halifax and Toronto, Schlotfeldt Residence is a compact contradiction that brings modernist luxury to rugged alpine living.
This home in West Vancouver completed in 2020 shows a classic modern geometric form with boxy shapes and concrete casting. But the materials lend a more complex appeal, namely the ribbed-cedar ceiling that stretches like a tarp over the whole structure.

A stunning restoration of a house built in the 1990s by Daniel Evan White, who was an acolyte of Arthur Erickson and translated the West Coast Modern idiom into a slick contemporary style.
