Bruno Moinard Displays Variety and Refinement at Avenue Road

Design brief.

Bruno Moinard may not be a name that is instantly recognizable in Canada. The designer and interior architect is an authoritative presence on the contemporary French scene, however, his demeanour is distinguished by a genteel minimalism. “My design is a function of the evolution of daily life,” says Moinard in his mise en scène at Vancouver’s Avenue Road design destination, where his eponymous furniture collection is exclusively available (Toronto and New York showrooms as well) in North America.

Furniture by Bruno Moinard is a statement of modern refinement, each piece exquisitely crafted. Materials as varied as woods, lacquer, leather, marble, and bronze demonstrate the breadth of Moinard’s work, with some of the finest embellishments hidden from view.

Moinard, who is also a gifted artist and illustrator, is principal of his Paris-based design agency, 4BI, creating interiors for a clientele that spans hotels (Plaza Athénée), boutiques (Cartier was one of his first patrons), galleries (Musée des Arts Décoratifs), office space (for Hermès), and private homes (Jim Balsillie and Michael Bloomberg are two disciples).
