Ladurée Pop-Up, Vancouver
A charming macaron carriage.
Like a wish granted by a fairy godmother, a charming Ladurée carriage has popped up in the glass-domed rotunda of the Pacific Centre shopping mall in downtown Vancouver. The petite pop-up marks the fourth Canadian outpost for the French patisserie, which has two boutiques in Vancouver and one in Toronto.
“The rotunda is in one of downtown Vancouver’s remaining open spaces, and we are thrilled to be able to offer people a place to experience our renowned sweets while they take a quick breather from the busy day,” said Olesya Krakhmalyova of Ladurée Canada in a press statement. “It is truly one of my personal favourite locations downtown.”
The carriage, painted in signature green and outfitted with gold-gilded boxes, rows of silky ribbons, and a glass display case of macarons, is a perfectly pretty snapshot of the brand’s larger boutiques and tea salons. It even has its own little patch of black-and-white checkered flooring and a small seating area.
Although labelled as a pop-up, the carriage will be a permanent fixture, allowing weary shoppers a moment of pause seven days a week, Parisian style. Boxed sets of macarons, chocolates, and pastries are currently available with plans to eventually offer treats by the piece.
