Ferragamo’s MTO Tramezza Program
Made-to-order from the sole.
Hot on the heels of last year’s MTO (made-to-order) Driver initiative, Salvatore Ferragamo is expanding its range of client-customizable footwear to include styles from their Tramezza range: the Cap-toe Oxford, the Monkstrap, and the Monkstrap Boot.
The MTO Tramezza program focuses more on comfort than its predecessor, with the range named for the extra layer of leather traditionally placed between the sole and insole of fine footwear. This tramezza (meaning “something-in-between”) is thick—yet pliable—and its placement requires 260 standardized steps, administered by the hand of an expert shoemaker.
In continued celebration of Ferrgamo’s 100 years of master craftsmanship (the brand hit its centennial birthday last year) the program allows clients to personalize their Tramezzas with previously-unavailable creative options. Palladium-buckled Monkstrap Boots with a blue crocodile upper? Done. Cap-toe Oxfords with a shrunken calfskin upper and smooth calfskin toe? Yours. One may even walk upon monogramed soles if desired (delivery time after crafting an online order—no matter how specific—is eight weeks).
There may never be a better moment to invest in some perfect new shoes.
