Time Refined

With the launch of the new 30mm models, Omega’s Aqua Terra collection strengthens its position as a cornerstone of the brand’s success.

Omega

In the world of luxury timepieces, few names resonate with as much quiet confidence as Omega. With the latest addition to its Aqua Terra line, Omega continues its legacy of precision and elegance. Aqua Terra has been a goes-with-everything sports watch since it was introduced in 2002, and now, the new dedicated 30-millimetre case size comes in 12 new models plus, more importantly, two movements engineered specifically for this model.

The new Aqua Terra models are not just new products but also “the beginning of a new chapter at Omega,” says Raynald Aeschlimann, the president and CEO of the Swiss manufacturer. Arriving after four years of development, the new 8750 and 8751 calibres are 20 millimetres in diameter and 3.98 millimetres and 4.08 millimetres thick respectively, with the latter’s extra width accommodating its larger gold rotor. Small yet powerful and precise, they feature the Co-Axial escapement, and each is certified Master Chronometer. “We had four years—it’s not as easy as you think,” Aeschlimann says about the new movement. “I’m very impatient, and I was pressuring our people. My target was to make it less than four millimetres, and in less than four millimetres we also decided to include the date, to show our incredible precision but also our technology.”

All the models have metal bracelets—with steel, Sedna Gold, Moonshine Gold, and two-tone options—but it is the dials that are the centrepieces, offered in a variety of colours, including black, grey, blue, purple, brown, green, champagne, and mother-of-pearl. Each has applied hour markers, the date window at six o’clock, and Omega’s patented screw-and-pin system that includes a butterfly clasp with side pushers and a two-millimetre comfort-adjustment feature. All come with the option of diamond-set bezels.

“This watch is definitely for ladies,” Aeschlimann asserts. “It doesn’t mean a man cannot wear it, but the design, it is a feminine point of view.” Omega is recognized as a leader in crafting exceptional timepieces for women. Its commitment to women’s watches is clear—not as an afterthought, but as a central pillar for the brand. Among its most iconic offerings is the Constellation collection. “Constellation is one of the biggest symbols of Omega, with Cindy Crawford as a longtime brand ambassador,” Aeschlimann reminds us. “Forty per cent of our watches worldwide are sold to ladies. It’s part of our history.” The first Omega wristwatch was for ladies, “created in 1902, when men were still widely using pocket watches,” he says.

Aeschlimann is confident that this new Aqua Terra will continue to drive the brand’s growth. “You can wear the Aqua Terra at any moment of your life. It has the personality for being on the wrist during the whole week, from weekend, cocktail moment, into sport, walking the dog—everything.”
