Finding Joy In a Courvoisier Cocktail

In early March, NUVO attended Courvoisier Cognac’s We Found Joy event in New York. The affair honoured the venerable cognac house’s 200 years of celebrating life. Alongside the recent appointment of Thibaut Hontanx as the house’s seventh chief blender and updated bottle designs, Courvoisier has named British Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori, who designed the venue in the city’s Chelsea neighbourhood, Ambassador of Joy. Seated amongst Ilori’s whimsical floral designs, guests dined and enjoyed cocktails grounded by Courvoisier’s famously floral cognac. The star cocktail of the evening—The Gala—evoked quiet summer days in Courvoisier’s home of Jarnac, France. Courvoisier has provided the recipe for The Gala so NUVO readers can enjoy a bit of Jarnac via New York at home.
