Where to Order Flowers Across Canada

Creative, independent florists.

Supermarket blooms and corner stores are great for everyday, but for special moments it can be a challenge to find stylish, progressive flower options amongst the endless Google search results and paint-by-number arrangements. If you’re looking for thoughtfully-composed bouquets that hew to current floral trends—from freakebana to hand-tied wildflowers—it pays to go small and support creative, independent florists.

From delivery-on-demand startups to florists specializing in local, organic blooms, here are some of our top picks.

Celsia Florist, Vancouver
Located in Kitsilano, Celsia delivers plants and flora anywhere in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The pretty, European-inspired stems are available paper-wrapped or in lush vase assemblages that are made-to-order.

Amborella, Calgary
Less than five per cent of the flowers sold by Amborella are grown outside of Canada, and the Calgary-based florist even links to the family-owned farms and growers that they work with on their website. There are seasonal arrangements, succulent terrariums, and burlap-wrapped bouquets available for pick-up and delivery.

Fleurissant, Ottawa
This charming floral concept, unexpectedly located inside the Paper Papier stationery store near ByWard Market, offers both ready-made arrangements and custom creations. Niche flowers such as mimosa, bittersweet, and serruria are flown in twice a week from direct from Holland, to be used in bright, textural combinations.

Wild North Flowers, Toronto
An online-only florist, Wild North offers only Ontario-grown blooms and free delivery within Toronto. You can only specify the container, price, and general palette; the recipient receives a bouquet made with what’s available from local growers, and you’ll be emailed a photo of the one-of-a-kind arrangement for reference.

Tonic Blooms, Toronto
Perfect for procrastinators, this innovative website offers same day and even on-demand delivery options within the Greater Toronto Area, and keeps prices reasonable by eliminating retail overhead and offering a very limited selection, which changes daily, of seasonal flowers and themed bouquets. You can even include CXBO chocolate bars with your denim-wrapped delivery.

Vertuose, Montreal
This bright St-Laurent plant shop also offers design services, but it’s the well-priced flowers, delivered within Montreal in a minimal ceramic container, that caught our eye. Chromatically-themed, each arrangement features exotic blooms such as orchid and protea in modern, sculptural combinations.

The Flower Shop, Halifax
From mason-jar arrangements to charming planters full of succulents, this Granville Court storefront offers stylish greenery for delivery within Halifax Regional Municipality and surrounding areas.
