The Fairmont Pacific Rim Owner’s Suites

Like you own the place.

Enter any of the Fairmont Pacific Rim’s 10 new luxury Owner’s Suites and expect your favourite albums to be waiting for you. There, beside a Rega RP1 turntable will sit Jagged Little Pill, or Rumours, or Imagine; whatever you pre-selected when booking your stay. The Vancouver hotel’s attention to detail goes well beyond the standard welcome basket of fruit, sweets, and bottle of wine (though one such basket assuredly greets you, too) extending to provide curated soundtracks, Le Labo amenities personalized with your own name on the bottles, and access to the Fairmont Gold’s 24-hour self-service bar—all to make you feel like you own the place.

Open as of August 2016 and designed by Vancouver architect James K. M. Cheng—one of the godfathers of Vancouverism as an architectural style—the suites incorporate elements of contemporary European design (hello, merlot-hued Ico Parisi–inspired sofa) with localized touches. Works by prominent Canadian artists enliven the rooms, including pieces by Coast Salish sculptor Susan Point and Saskatoon-born, Vancouver-based painter Greg Murdock, and views are of the unobstructed North Shore mountains, Stanley Park, and the Lion’s Gate Bridge—the latter illuminated beautifully at night by strings of light known locally as “Gracie’s Pearls.” A marble soaker tub, canopy king bed, and cavernous walk-in closet are icing on the cake.

A few floors down, the Pacific Rim’s Willow Stream Spa offers some of Vancouver’s most indulgent treatments, like the Coastal Mountain Body Wrap, which uses maple and shea butters to nourish skin, and a muscle-cosseting Back Soother in which warmed jade mats are applied to relieve soreness. Many spa offerings are suited to those who have spent their day hiking the mountains or jogging the nearby seawall. Outfitted with cozy, fireplace-warmed relaxation rooms and a therapeutic shower with more settings than rainy days in a Vancouver winter, Willow Stream is a Pacific coastal haven not to be missed.

Round out your stay with a visit to the hotel lobby’s RawBar sushi counter for Ocean Wise omakase and a tamarind-laced margarita. Musicians take to the room’s white baby grand nightly for live performances, as the who’s who of the city mix and mingle in an atmosphere as sophisticated as it is welcoming.
