Fortnight Swimwear

Minimalist Canadian-made bathing suits.

Canadian lingerie line Fortnight has branched out, offering swimwear for the first time. The five-piece collection seems straight out of a hypothetical utopia—where the concept of bathing suit shopping has shed its sinister connotations and instead simply entails selecting a flattering, comfortable, and chic style with ease.

A wire-free longline bikini top features a reinforced band and lined cups for support, while a tie-back one piece allows for a customized fit, and a leotard-like maillot with body-contouring lines could easily double as daywear. Three separate bottom styles (including a glamorous high-waist) allow for further mix-and-matching.

Perhaps in a nod to the paradox of choice (the well-researched phenomenon that too many choices make people unhappy) the entire inaugural Fortnight swimwear line comes in one colour and fabric: a quick drying, highly opaque black matte jersey. Consider it elegant swimwear, simplified.

This article was updated February 2018 to include styles from Fortnight’s summer 2018 collection.
