The Oceanco Moonstone

A superyacht/light show hybrid.

Oceanco has been a company near-synonymous with custom superyachts since 1987, creating some of the more boundary-pushing designs to ever set out to sea. The brand’s newest model, the Moonstone, a 90-metre concept yacht created in collaboration with Dutch design firm Van Geest Design, aims to capture an element of artistry through its unconventional use of light design. Across the Moonstone’s hull, 300 individually dimmable custom LED panel lights can be programmed to twinkle, refracting off the waves below for an ethereal effect. The lights are powered by 750 square feet of solar panels atop the yacht’s superstructure. “We think this yacht would [be of interest] to an art collector; someone who likes to show and share their art,” says designer Pieter van Geest, adding that “the yacht itself will become a piece of art.” With a helipad, gym, spa, cinema, transparently-walled pool, and space for 14 guests and 29 staffers, the Moonstone truly unites glamour and glitz.
