Rolls-Royce Creates Heaven on Earth
The Arcadia Droptail Coachbuild is truly one of a kind.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, the luxury brand beloved first by the British ruling class and then around the world, has announced the latest commissioned Coachbuild, called Arcadia.
The vehicle, named after an idea of a perfect life in Greek mythology, is the third such commission for the automaker and the first roadster body style in the company’s current era. The Coachbuild is tailored to the client’s interests, in this case architecture and design, resulting in a design that prioritizes simplicity and restraint.
Alex Innes, head of Coachbuild design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, says the significance of Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail lies in its subtlety. “It is a projection of an individual who values clarity and precision in all areas of their life–from their passion for fine cuisine, their highly curated personal and professional spaces, and affinity with contemporary design.”
Arcadia offers the most personalized design and style options for a Coachbuild model, according to Innes, in turn having an appreciation for the owner’s simplicity, serenity, and elegance.
The car itself is , and a mostly white exterior gives it a classic look that is still relevant. The personalization of the vehicle, and the hand-in-hand collaboration between Rolls-Royce and the client, is evident throughout. The leather interior uses two bespoke shades available only to this client. The white and tan leather is contrasted with wooden elements, which required importing techniques from Formula 1 to ensure the correct installation and performance of those sections.
Finally, the car includes a precision clock created by Rolls-Royce Coachbuild that took five months to assemble. The specially designed clockface and the elements that make it up were from solid stainless steel before being hand polished.
The Arcadia Droptail Coachbuild represents the ultimate in luxury from a brand that many already consider at the top of the tree. This unique vehicle is a testament not only to the client’s personal style and aesthetic, but to the craftsmanship, dedication, and skill of the Rolls-Royce Coachbuild team.
