Hay Merges Iconic Designs With the New Liberty Matin Lamp

Contemporary meets timeless.

Contemporary meets timeless in a collaboration between Inga Sempé’s Matin lamp and Liberty, one of the most prominent luxury department stores and a historic London institution. Known for its close connection to design, art, and culture, it is most famous for its bold floral fabrics.

French designer Inga Sempé’s Matin lamp, one of Hay’s successful lamp collections since 2019, continues to expand. The collaboration builds on Sempé’s playful design, with classic pleated construction, while adding a modern twist to Liberty’s traditional fabrics.

“I have always had a deep fascination with Liberty—the store, its aura and legacy, and the floral prints it is home to—there’s nothing quite like it,” says Mette Hay, co-founder of Hay. “It’s rare that you never tire of pattern, but that’s truly the case with Liberty prints. They never get old.”

The lamp comes in two sizes and five prints: Mitsi, Betsy Ann, Ros, Ed, and Cherry Drop. The lighter patterns create a subtle diffused light, while darker ones provide directional downward light. The versatility complements any room and setting.

The Hay x Liberty Matin table lamp is available at Liberty’s iconic shop and from online retailers.
