Haider Ackermann Debuts First Capsule Collection for Canada Goose

Dressing warm never looked this cool. Toronto-based luxury outerwear brand Canada Goose has unveiled the first capsule collection from its new creative director, Haider Ackermann. The fall/winter 2024 collection is accompanied by a global campaign shot by Willy Vanderperre and starring actor and activist Ethan Hawke.

For the designer’s inaugural collection, he draws inspiration from nature’s serenity and power. “Being surrounded by nature allows one to be connected with oneself—it reflects, it inspires, it provokes,” Ackermann says. Despite this collection being Ackermann’s first for Canada Goose, he brings years of design experience to the role and is simultaneously the creative director of Tom Ford.

Ethan Hawke, the face of the campaign, also reflects on his own relationship with nature. “After finishing a project, I crave a reset. Anything you can do that gets you out of things that are manmade, that is when life gets very simple and very easy,” he says. “I was lucky that I found nature, something that I loved.”

Key pieces include the Rider Parka, a reimagining of the brand’s archival mid-1990s Peacekeeper Parka. The coat fuses fashion-forward oversized proportions with accenting utilitarian details like reflective accents and an adjustable hood. The Celestia Jacket, a lightweight update of the classic shirt jacket and crafted from reflective nylon, pays homage to workwear design with a nod back to the reflective tape featured on many iconic Canada Goose pieces. Knitwear makes its debut with the Cleria Crew, a ribbed raglan-sleeve sweater that is brushed for a lived-in feel, while the Runic Sweater and Chinook Hybridge add a bold, textured aesthetic with oversized black-and-white diamond patterns.

Accessories also shine, and the Avalon Hat, an updated take on the early 2000s Classique Hat, features exaggerated ear flaps for warmth and versatility. Beanies, caps, and socks complete the collection.

Haider Ackermann’s appointment as Canada Goose’s first-ever creative director in May 2024 marked the revival of the Snow Goose label. This collection is the first of biannual seasonal drops under Ackermann’s creative vision, with additional pieces launching throughout December.
