First Look: Yours Truly DC

Boho DC.

Washington, D.C.’s, Dupont Circle is now home to Yours Truly DC, the first North American hotel in IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Vignette Collection. Launched in 2021, this luxury hotel collection includes properties in Bangkok, Porto, and Brisbane.

With a bohemian meets brutalist style, Yours Truly DC is designed by Simeone Deary Design Group, whose recent projects include Hotel Kansas City, Waldorf Astoria Chicago, and Loews Miami Beach Hotel. The industrial exterior leads to a lobby styled as a living room, encouraging down time and conversation. The hotel’s eclectic main floor is divided by clusters of velvet chairs and sofas in earth tones, accented by whimsical vintage items, copper disco balls, contemporary art, and tropical plants.

The hotel lobby includes a new and used vinyl shop with rare jazz, soul, funk, latin, dance, and hip-hop albums. Guests can borrow from the store’s music library to use on in-room turntables to spin their own house soundtrack. Check Uncle Tony’s schedule at El Donut Shoppe next to the lobby for intimate house concerts and pop-ups by local DJs.

Also on the main floor is tasty and colourful Call Your Mother, a Jewish deli with hearty bagel and sandwich options for breakfast and lunch, while Mercy Me is the other dining option, with a South American–influenced menu, both created by James Beard Award nominee chef Daniela Moreira and Andrew Dana (co-founder of CYM). Consider happy hour faves like a negroni or an old fashioned with empanadas or quinoa tostadas. Hotel guests can request in-room minibars stocked by Mercy Me with craft brews, cold brew, or cookies and receive additional dining discounts.

The 355 rooms and suites offer accommodation options for all kinds of travellers: business or leisure, solo or group (pets are welcome, too). Decorated in in rich autumnal tones of red, green, and caramel, they are mashup of boho and midcentury styles with modern art, leather or velvet tub chairs, macrame, rattan, a Crosley turntable, and a patterned rug. Standard amenities include an oversized smart TV, desk, platform bed with leather headboard, and under-bed storage. Bathrooms are sleek art deco–inspired spaces, with black subway tiles on the walls, gold bath fixtures, and hexagonal mosaic floor tiles. Upgrade to a spacious suite for bench seating at the window, separate living room, and courtyard or city views.

Additional hotel benefits include a gym, meeting and event spaces including a table tennis room and outdoor patio, the Groom Guy modern barber shop, and the Yours Truly Small Business Collective, a group of nearby businesses (many women-owned) with perks for Yours Truly guests. The collective, which hosts a quarterly in-hotel marketplace, includes She Loves Me flower shop, Olivia Macaron patisserie, Three Littles children’s store, Doggy Style Bakery, Boutique, & Pet Spa, Terratorie Maps + Goods, and Take Care spa.
