Chopard’s Alpine Eagle

Swooping in.

The Eagle has landed. Chopard has unveiled its new collection of steel sports timepieces, the Alpine Eagle, with 10 different references (three variations of the 41 mm version with date, and seven variations of the 36 mm with no date). The Alpine Eagle is based on the St. Moritz, the first watch project that a then-22-year-old Karl-Friedrich Scheufele submitted to his father, who had acquired the watch and jewellery company from the founding Chopard family. The St. Moritz was not only Chopard’s first sports watch, but also its first watch in steel. Scheufele’s son, Karl-Fritz, suggested the Alpine Eagle, which, according to Chopard, channels the Scheufele family’s “passion for the Alps”.

Three generations of the Scheufele family: Karl-Fritz (left) first pitched the Alpine Eagle project to his father, Karl-Friedrich (far right), and later his grandfather, Karl (centre).

The Alpine Eagle in lucent steel features a galvanic blue brass dial.
