Get Outfitted
Rent everything needed to ski, easily.
It is ski season, and resorts from Vail to Val Thorens are at their powder-laden prime. This year’s weather forecasts are promising (last season, many regions suffered a penurious snowfall), and travellers are preparing for what will certainly be a busy time on the slopes. Yet even with tickets booked and hotels reserved, the dreary task of packing remains: jackets, pants, gloves, helmets, goggles, base layers and insulating layers, socks, boots, skis, snowboards, poles—and street clothes too.
Skiing means lots of gear. The good news is you no longer have to lug it with you. Enter Get Outfitted, a web service that rents clothing, equipment, and accessories—whether a warmer parka or a package of everything you need to get out on the slopes—from brands such as Patagonia, Marmot, Obermeyer, and Burton. Two years ago, Colorado entrepreneur Julian Flores had a big idea: he wanted to rent top-quality ski and snowboard gear to travellers, shipping it to their destination. His rationale was twofold: a way for the occasional skier and snowboarder to save money (without compromising on ski wear) as well as a service that would appeal to people who didn’t want to hassle with lots of bags.
“You don’t have to pack all that ski gear. That means you don’t have to check all of that ski gear, which means you probably can get away with taking just a carry-on on the plane” says Flores. Get Outfitted services resorts in Colorado, Utah, Vermont, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Michigan with a flurry of selection for men, women, boys, and girls. Upon arrival at your resort, no need to traipse off to a rental shop to get fitted. Rather a box, complete with hand warmers and protein gummy bears, will be waiting for you with the selection of gear you pre-selected via the online-only service. When you’re done, simply throw the gear in the prepaid mailer bag included in the original delivery box and leave the package at the hotel reception for pick-up; convenient, easy, and seamless.
New for this season is a special vintage collection that features one-piece ski suits, because why not embrace the style of our ski ancestors when you schuss?
