A Hacienda-Style Resort in Mexico Unites Relaxation and Adventure

The newest Four Seasons in Cabo, Cabo San Luca, features three pools, a golf course, an artisan studio, and more.

It’s hard to imagine an activity as idyllic as whale watching while tequila tasting even exists, but it’s what awaits at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol, the newly opened sprawling hacienda-style resort and the second Four Seasons in Cabo.

Designed by Meyer Davis and EDG, with architecture by Robert Glazier, the property draws on Mexico’s rich history of craftsmanship and a strong sense of place for interiors that are resplendent with natural materials and contemporary lines. “Our interiors were designed as a seamless extension of the Cabo landscape, offering spaces that honour the region’s natural beauty while deeply reflecting its cultural essence,” Will Meyer, co-founder of Meyer Davis, says.

Instead of the typical reception desk and lobby upon arrival, guests are welcomed into La Casona and invited to sit on a large sofa with a refreshing drink while they check in. The space is adorned with local art, comfortable furniture, and surfboards as an homage to the area’s long history of surfing. “We wanted the arrival to feel truly special, like stepping into a friend’s hacienda,” Gray Davis, Meyer Davis’s other co-founder, says. “An oversized fireplace anchors the space, while the opposite wall opens up to sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.”

Starting at 847 square feet, all of the 96 guest rooms and suites offer spacious floor plans and stunning views and are divided between two buildings, La Casona and Las Casitas. Meyer Davis designed the guest rooms in an earthy colour palette that invites serene relaxation and added subtle nautical nods like fishing net-inspired architectural screens and decorative knots. At around 2,000 square feet, suites are downright expansive, featuring amenities like private plunge pools, garden showers, walk-in closets, and outdoor dining areas. But if that’s somehow not enough space, there are also 61 villas, estates, and residences that offer more privacy.

Dining and imbibing at Cabo del Sol comes with plenty of options. Designed by EDG and under the watchful eye of executive chef Miguel Baltazar and food and beverage director Matt Myers, nearly a dozen dining choices ensure there is something for everyone. For a well-poured drink, sip poolside at Bar Brisal or head to La Casona lobby bar or Sora, on the rooftop. Palmerio has a Mediterranean menu with local ingredients, while Cayao by Richard Sandoval serves an innovative Japanese and Peruvian fusion cuisine. Also on offer are a gourmet deli, a restaurant serving local dishes, and 24-hour in-room dining.

Beyond eating and drinking, there’s plenty to do on resort grounds, including three swimming pools (one of which is adults-only), a golf course, a stunning and swimmable coastline with bustling reefs, and an artisan studio where guests can shop and watch artists at work. Plus, an on-site adventure centre helps guests create a personalized itinerary.

For the ultimate vacation indulgence, Tierra Mar Spa blends the indoors and outdoors for a luxury spa experience that takes its cues from the land. With 10 treatment rooms, a private garden, a salt sauna, a eucalyptus steam room, and plunge pools, there’s no end to relaxing alternatives.
