Roche Bobois’s Nouveaux Classiques

Designing the classics of tomorrow.

Art de vivre is not a quality that is easily pinpointed; it’s a spirit that encapsulates all things French, one that Roche Bobois captures throughout its portfolio—this fall enlisting the help of Maison Christian Lacroix. The fashion house’s creative director, Sacha Walckhoff, was given carte blanche to create a mélange of design elements from each era of 20th-century French history. “The challenge was to have them working together nicely,” he notes, citing the contrast between the soft palettes of the garden scenes on the folding screen and the bold stripes adorning the beechwood chairs. This 20-piece capsule collection is for Roche Bobois’s Nouveaux Classiques; a series that once reinterpreted classics of the past, it now strives to invent the classics of tomorrow.
