Montana Labelle: A Lived-In Modern Aesthetic
Contemporary and vintage.
The Montana Labelle Design & Lifestyle aesthetic combines contemporary and vintage. Montana Labelle Design got its start in 2013 as a full-service contemporary interior design studio. A few years later, the Toronto firm extended beyond a practice of design services, launching Montana Labelle Lifestyle, a shop selling homewares and furniture pieces.
A “lived-in modern” style is the foundation of owner Montana Labelle’s projects. “Often when people think of modern, they think a black-and-white sterile box,” the 33-year-old designer says. “We believe you can mix modern with collected textural pieces to really create a warm, lived-in space.”
Working on both the store and the firm allows her to create items for clients that aren’t found anywhere else, she notes. The lifestyle shop offerings include Labelle’s own product line, mainly ceramic and marble home accessories, in addition to items sourced from her travels across the globe.
New to the shop is the already popular Lucas Collection, made up of bowls, hooks, catchalls, and more in earthy black-and-brown marble and sleek silhouettes. They can be viewed first-hand at the bricks-and-mortar shop Labelle recently opened in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood.
