The British Isles pack a huge array of scenery into a relatively small space. Through the lens of photographer Fran Mart, the white cliffs of England’s south coast, the isolated crofter’s cottages that dot the Scottish landscape’s rugged hills, and the Atlantic coast’s prominent sea stacks are in full focus. Mart looks for the “interplay between natural light and design,” which is evident in his landscape shots of the Scottish Highlands that prominently feature bothies, showcasing the reach of built designs into even the remotest environments. The other element of his focus, natural light, changes from frame to frame, mirroring the varied landscape upon which it is cast.
