Through the Lens: Brad Wall’s Pools From Above

Dive into detail.

Australian photographer Brad Walls gained worldwide recognition and multiple awards for his approach to aerial photography emphasizing the use of negative space, symmetry, and leading lines. Walls has a particular interest in capturing top-down portraits, featuring synchronized swimming, gymnastics, and ballet, to depict aesthetically pleasing shapes from above. In his book Pools From Above, released in 2020, Walls shifted his focus to everyday objects. Beautifully capturing the unique disposition of swimming pools from far and wide, he draws attention to symmetry and curvature, playing with both light and colour to bring the photographs to life. A creative ode to summer’s landscape. Walls has shared some of his favourite photos from the book with NUVO. Dive in.
