Jaeger-LeCoultre x Christian Louboutin
The Reverso, red-hot.
To celebrate the 85th birthday of their classic Reverso model, horological hero Jaeger-LeCoultre has collaborated with shoe designer Christian Louboutin on an exclusive new incarnation of the line’s feminine Reverso Classic Duetto style, revealed at Geneva’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie earlier this year.
Louboutin admits to owning only three watches himself, one of which happens to be the Reverso. The timepiece’s structure has remained consistent since its debut in 1931 with its iconic swivelling rectangular art deco face, and, the object of Louboutin admiration, a well-balanced dial design. Similar to the way he approaches footwear, Louboutin embraced the classic shape and focused on decoration. “If you want to change it—well, then you design a new watch,” he’s been quoted saying, “but the idea was a collaboration…”
Nevertheless, Louboutin manages to exercise his creativity, the leather strap shimmering an ethereal wash of greens, plums, and blues, while customizations can be made by including a diamond trim and selecting a coloured or plain silver dial. Louboutin fans may rest assured—the designer’s signature is not absent from this watch. Turn the timepiece over and you will indeed find a shock of red lining the strap’s interior.
The Christian Louboutin and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classic Duetto is available at Jaeger-LeCoultre boutiques worldwide.
