Michael Delios, cofounder of Sip Saunas in Bloomfield, Ontario, is bringing the sauna culture of Northern Europe to Canada. Inspired by his experiences in Denmark and Finland, Sip offers prefabricated or custom saunas with a focus on accessible use similar to that of Finland, where there is a sauna for every two Finns. Made in Prince Edward County using locally sourced wood and Finnish stoves, with the option to customize plans to suit any space, Sip is well on its way to democratizing Canadians’ access to löyly, the esoteric Finnish term for the steam that rises in a sauna, and all the possibilities it can bring.
