Tom Dixon for IKEA

Hacker's paradise.

View Entire Article

For many at-home IKEA “architects”, the satisfaction of assembling a Billy bookcase is often followed by the urge to enhance it via so-called “hacks”—a ladder here, a cabinet door there. With this in mind, the furniture behemoth began collaborating with Britain’s Tom Dixon, first unveiling the modular bed-to-sofa Delaktig at last year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, and now the appropriately named Hack series of fixtures and accessories.

There’s a cobalt blue iteration of Dixon’s cushy Boucle Throw and three fabric coverings designed with regular IKEA outfitter Bemz, as well as a collection of aluminum add-ons: a magazine rack, a side table, back and side panels, and Boom Light, all of which can transform the Delaktig from cozy bed to modern workspace in a Tom Dixon–approved do-it-yourself.
