Omega x the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics
A limited edition Seamaster Diver 300M.
Official Olympic timekeeper Omega has announced the release of the Seamaster Diver 300M Rio 2016, a limited edition timepiece to commemorate the Summer 2016 Olympics.
The Rio 2016 features a Seamaster Diver 300M’s classic accoutrements—the helium escape valve shows at 10 o’clock, the date window at three o’clock, and the rhodium-plated hands are coated in white Super-LumiNova. Decorated with an eye to Rio de Janeiro’s lively aesthetic, the design of the black dial evokes Copacabana Beach’s undulating wave–patterned sidewalks, and a rotating diving black ceramic bezel is adorned with lacquered numbers denoting seconds in red, green, yellow, and blue (a nod to both the Olympic colours and the host city’s vibrancy). The polished and brushed stainless steel case boasts the Olympic logo on the back, where the timepiece’s unique limited edition number—out of the 3,016 that have been produced—is also presented.
The Rio 2016 is a keepsake that keeps time, a timepiece that venerates an event where recorded milliseconds separate esteemed athletes from world champions.
