Remember when someone professed affection for another with a custom mixed tape? Creating one took effort and dedication, to carefully play the cassette while simultaneously recording on another. Milktape Mixtape’s USB cassettes are a modern-day version; loading them up is as easy as dragging and dropping MP3 files directly onto the device (each 128 MB drive can hold approximately 15 songs). But fret not the convenience, as the sentiment remains: cartridges can be personalized by adding handwritten notes on the case or stickered right onto the cassette. Founded in Victoria, B.C., by Sasan Aghdasi and Saman Farid, Milktape marries the ease of today’s technology with yesterday’s tradition—and is leading the charge on the mixtape renaissance.
