Atmos Hermès Clock

Time capsule.

NUVO Blog: Atmos Hermès clock

Hermès and Jaeger-LeCoultre tackle the science of time with the Atmos Hermès clock. Dignified and functional, the Atmos can be displayed atop the mantle or bedside table and relies on neither batteries nor electrical current; rather, it runs on temperature fluctuations. At its core, a hermetically-sealed capsule is attached to the mainspring of the clock and contains a mixture of gases that expand and contract as external temperatures rise and fall—a single change in degree will generate 48 hours of power. The limited-edition production of 176 clocks commemorates the number of years that Hermès has been a maison, and each timepiece is encased in a handcrafted crystal orb realized by the glasswork artisans of  Les Cristalleries de St. Louis. Indeed, the Atmos Hermès clock charms in both concept and design.
