The Jewellery Brand Bringing the Wonder and Beauty of the Sea in a New Collection
For World Ocean Month, Canadian brand Kara Yoo has partnered with Ocean Wise.

To celebrate World Ocean Month in June, the latest collection from the Vancouver-based demi-fine jewellery brand Kara Yoo fuses aquatic designs and charms with minimalist style. The Ocean Collection, created by Yoo and her team of eight women, features dangly jellyfish- or fishbone-shaped earrings adorned with pearls, pendants that mimic a seahorse or an oyster shell, gold-plated necklaces, and stone accessories.
According to Yoo, the collection is a love letter to the Pacific, inspired by the natural beauty of the West Coast. “This collection draws inspiration from time spent oceanside with family,” she says. “More than adornment, it is a celebration of marine beauty while supporting its preservation.”
A percentage of proceeds from the collection will directly support the Vancouver-based nonprofit Ocean Wise. The conservation organization works to improve ocean health through a number of initiatives, including restoring underwater seaweed forests, cleaning up shorelines, and promoting a sustainable seafood industry.
Yoo’s jewellery brand is not new to sustainability and eco-consciousness. Since the company’s inception in 2013, the designs have consistently incorporated recycled metals and are produced in small batches to limit the impact on the planet. The freshwater pearls in the designs are ethically sourced directly from pearl farmers in China’s Zhejiang province.
While Kara Yoo’s previous collections have featured customizable jewellery, lab-grown rubies, and initial pendants, the Ocean Collection gives wearers a chance to carry a piece of the ocean with them—while giving back. Danielle Gibb, the director of corporate and foundation partnerships at Ocean Wise, says the collection brings the beauty and wonder of the ocean to life. “It’s a beautiful example of how fashion and purpose can come together to create meaningful impact.”
