The Bowline Collection

Stephen Kenn x Colony2139’s nautical furniture.

This winter, Los Angeles-based, Edmonton-born designer Stephen Kenn, known for his sleekly functional furniture and leather goods, has joined forces with contemporary Japanese lifestyle brand Colony2139 to reimagine classic, nautical-inspired interior decor. Their collaboration resulted in Kenn’s new Bowline furniture collection—a thoroughly un-kitschy take on the seafaring look. The Bowline is comprised of five thoughtful pieces: a sofa, chair, and ottoman upholstered in stone-washed sailcloth and supported by shock cord, and a sandblasted alder wood desk and side table. Its colour palette of creamy whites, greys, black, and navy contrast with its soft wood and angular metal finishings for a timelessly minimal, Scandinavian by way of California effect. It’s furniture that has captured sailing aesthetics without going overboard.
