There’s a New MoonSwatch to Add to Your Collection: Mission To The Moonphase has Landed

Omega and Swatch are back with a fresh iteration of their much-hyped collaborative model. While the frenzy for the MoonSwatch—a mash-up of a mash-up of Omega’s Speedmaster (known as the Moonwatch for its role in NASA’s Apollo space program) and Swatch’s colourful Bioceramic, a proprietary mix of ceramic and what the brand calls bio-sourced plastic—has calmed, the fanfare continues.

The new Mission to the Moonphase is dressed in all-white: white dial, white case, and white Velcro strap. And while the timepiece has all the fixings of a MoonSwatch with a chronograph function, the Mission to the Moonphase, as the name signals, is equipped with a moon phase indicator where in the upper-right subregister where Snoopy, the widely loved beagle character,  can be spotted alongside his buddy Woodstock. A secret message “I can’t sleep without a night light!” lights up in dim environments thanks to luminescent materials.

Mission To The Moonphase Snoopy Watch

Why Snoopy you may ask? NASA chose a mascot for its flight safety program in the 1960s, the decade after Charles M. Schulz began to portray his dog, and Schulz’s beagle was NASA’s pick. The Silver Snoopy Award is NASA’s highest honour, bestowed by astronauts on employees and contractors who play a fundamental role in the success of space missions. Omega received the award when the Speedmaster (certified for use on space missions) played a vital role in rescuing the Apollo 13.

The Mission to the Moonphase watch is available as of today (exactly two years to the day since the first MoonSwatch was launched) and has already become an icon. Cue up more MoonSwatch madness.
