FROM THE ARCHIVE: Walking into David Altmejd’s studio feels like falling down a rabbit hole into some strange wonderland. Hidden on the top floor of a Long Island City warehouse that’s just one subway stop from Manhattan, the large, bright space is a hub of activity.
Among the bucolic fields of picturesque Greenwich, Connecticut, stands a 9,800-square-foot stone building that is home to the Brant Foundation Art Study Center. Belying its stately exterior, inside the walls, are exhibitions of some of the most compelling and provocative works of modern and contemporary art.
