Watches and Wonders 2022

It’s on in Geneva.

The Watches and Wonders ecosystem brings together the leading names of the watchmaking industry from March 30 to April 5 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland.

The curtain has come up on the watch industry’s big event in Geneva with the 2022 edition of Watches and Wonders, opening today to a crowd of invitation-only collectors, enthusiasts, retailers, and press. Palexpo (for many years the home for SIHH) is where the great unveiling takes place for brands including A. Lange & Söhne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, Chanel, Chopard, Grand Seiko, Hermès, Hublot, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Oris, Panerai, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Rolex, Roger Dubuis, Tag Heuer, Tudor, Vacheron Constantin, Van Cleef & Arpels, Zenith—and more.

This year marks a welcome return to full-scale in-person presentations after a two-year hiatus pushed the watch expo online (there continues to be a digital component for those unable to attend). The events that run from today until April 5 will generate plenty of chatter and desirable new timepieces.

“The luxury industry has down surprisingly well with what has happened with COVID and within that, watches have done even better than the average,” says Brian Duffy, chief executive officer of the Watches of Switzerland Group. “We believe everybody wants a watch, everybody dreams of a watch, and the more we can reach out and access that desire then the more business we do.” The sales of Swiss watches are booming, with exports to the United States alone increasing 55 per cent last year to the tune of more than $3 billion (USD).

For those of us here, NUVO included, it’s so great to actually hear the watches tick. Stay tuned.
