Bang & Olufsen Offers Unique Versions of Flagship Products

A Frosted Green Beosound Speaker is the latest release from the tailored initiative.

As more audiophiles look to add a striking touch of personality to their home setups, it makes an option like Bang & Olufsen’s Atelier program look more appealing. Through the almost limitless choics that the Danish high-end audio company has created, the most discerning audio enthusiasts can customize a range of the company’s most popular products to their exact design preferences.

The Atelier program is part lab and part curation clinic, putting custom colours and finishes on items large and small with three ways to personalize Bang & Olufsen products.

Atelier Editions is the most straightforward, in which the brand releases specific products in limited-edition colourways such as the most recent launch of a Beosound Level portable speaker covered in a special Frosted Green colourway with only 85 examples available worldwide.

The next is Atelier Catalogue, which offers the highest level of personalization: 41 aluminum colours and finishes, 21 wood types and shades, and 20 textiles.

Last is Atelier Bespoke, allowing customers to collaborate directly with Atelier staff to create a one-of-a-kind combination of colours and materials.

Any Atelier project generally starts with the brand’s Digital Composer tool, which customers can use online or in a B&O store. For Bespoke and Catalogue, they’ll get a wide view of the more than 500,000 possible combinations, including anodized aluminum finishes, fabric grilles, and optional engravings to create something all their own. While not every model has every finish available, there are more than enough options to suit every taste.

A review of a range of insider photos from the Atelier process shows detailed blueprints and a bevy of colours with designers laying out the materials to bring these designs to life. It’s easy to see the value and potential of bringing vibrant textures and patterns to B&O’s legacy products as the final touch of bringing an entire space together—something that you may see in extremely limited quantities outside B&O or maybe something only made for a particular home.

Once a customer selects the model and finishes, the complete design is sent to B&O’s facility in Struer, Denmark, where its team will bring the piece to life. Depending on the size and scope of the project, Catalogue orders can take up to 24 weeks to fulfil, while Bespoke creations can take up to 12 months.
